Unique Property of Guernsey Milk - 1

Beta Carotene - As this is not digested and broken down by Guernsey cows, it creates the wonderful golden colour in the milk and its products.

Unique Property of Guernsey Milk - 2

Omega 3 - Guernsey milk is naturally better balanced than other milks, with test results showing it to have one part omega 3 to two parts omega 6, whereas all other milks are one part omega 3  to six parts omega 6.

Unique Property of Guernsey Milk - 3

Beta Casein A2 - Guernsey milk has a naturally high percentage of Beta Casein A2 (tested to be more than 95% of A2). Other milks have shown to be between 40% (Jersey milk) and 15% (Holstein milk).

Congratulations to Fenella Maddison who has won a Bronze award in the recent World Cheese Awards for her Fort Grey Guernsey Blue, click here to be taken to the Guild of Fine Food results 2010 page. In addition to making these cheeses she was recently thrilled to be asked to act as one of the Judges in the British Cheese Awards which she said she found most valuable in being able to sample so many other cheeses from all across the UK.

She has also recently featured on Woman's hour on Radio 4 talking about the changes in her career from nursing to cheese making.

Guernsey Island products being sold to Holland PDF Print E-mail

Ray Watts, who has been selling Suffolk Farmhouse cheeses on Guernsey Island for some time, has started to resell to Holland. Apparently Guernsey Island butter is also being sold there.

Olive Farm Babcary were awarded Gold awards at the recent Royal Bath & West show for their Creme Fraiche and Soured Cream. Winning in competition with all of the major Highstreet premium brands. Rose Paull misread the entry form and her products were in plain packages with no description of the content and thus it was the quality of the product that won through and not the glossy packaging.
